The European Digital Identity (EUDI) Wallet
A paradigm shift in how European citizens and businesses prove who they are, share data, and maintain absolute control over their digital presence.
What is the EUDI Wallet?
The European Digital Identity (EUDI) Wallet is a secure mobile application designed to provide EU citizens and businesses with a standardized way to prove their identity and share personal data digitally across all Member States. Governed by the revised eIDAS-regulation, these wallets are expected to be available at the beginning of 2027 and are intended to offer a high-assurance alternative to commercial login methods.
In the Netherlands, the government is developing a specific national version known as the public NL-wallet. This version will be free for citizens and is built with a focus on inclusivity, privacy, and security. Unlike centralized identity providers, the EUDI framework is decentralized by design, ensuring that no single entity can track your movements across the digital landscape.
Empowering the Individual: Privacy & "Regie"
Absolute User Control
Known as "Regie" in the Dutch framework, users have full control over their data. You choose exactly what information to share, with whom, and for how long. The wallet keeps a local, private log of your interactions that only you can see.
Selective Disclosure
Prove eligibility without revealing identity. Using SD-JWTs, you can confirm you are "Over 18" or a "Licensed Professional" without sharing your actual date of birth or home address. You disclose only the necessary attribute.
Official Digital Attributes
The wallet acts as a digital vault for official data from sources like the Basisregister Personen (BRP) in the Netherlands. Store digital versions of your diplomas, permits, driving licenses, and health insurance cards in a single, secure location.
Legally Binding Signatures
Create Qualified Electronic Signatures (QES) directly from your phone. These signatures have the same legal standing as a handwritten signature across the entire EU, enabling you to sign contracts and legal filings instantly.
SovGate: The EUDI Verifier
The first production-ready bridge between the EUDI framework and high-assurance sovereign infrastructure.
While the EUDI wallet exists on the user's phone, service providers need a secure way to request and verify these digital attributes. SovGate provides the API and verification engine that bridges this gap.
Built natively for OpenID for Verifiable Presentations (OpenID4VP), our verifier ensures that the "handshake" between your service and the user's wallet is cryptographically sound and legally compliant.
Most importantly, SovCore uses the wallet's Hardware Binding (the smartphone's Secure Element) to seed our zero-knowledge encryption engines. This eliminates the need for passwords and ensures that the Root of Trust remains exclusively in the user's hands.
> REQUESTING: "age_over_18"
> PROTOCOL: OpenID4VP

Instant Onboarding
Reduce onboarding times from 24 hours to less than 5 seconds. Eliminate manual KYC processes and the need for human verification of scanned identity documents.
Jurisdictional Immunity
By using EUDI-native protocols, you avoid relying on US-based identity providers subject to the CLOUD Act. Your verification pipeline remains entirely within the European legal framework.
A Standardized Root of Trust
Traditional Providers
- ✕Centralized Tracking: Providers can track where and when you log in across the web.
- ✕Jurisdictional Risk: Identity data often stored on US-based clouds (CLOUD Act).
- ✕Fragmented Security: Hardware-level verification is non-mandatory and often poorly integrated.
SovCore Verifier (EUDI)
- ✓Decentralized Privacy: Built-in "blindness" ensures no infrastructure provider tracks user movements.
- ✓Sovereign Infrastructure: Verification and data exchange stay pinned to EU-native cloud nodes.
- ✓Standardized Hardware: Every user benefits from government-vetted, mandatory hardware binding in the Secure Element.
